This zine is loosely adapted from a lesson in Introduction to Digital Humanities. The lesson is in a unit called Narrative and Form, and it draws from the history of print technology, the development of graphical language, and computation through a material-visual lens.

Interface in computation relies on gridlike metaphors that are far older; its parents and grandparents are the printing press and the weaving loom. The goal of this zine is to weave together this family tree by tracing visual motifs and metaphors back to their roots.
